How does Nuggets work?

Nuggets is a payments and identity platform. It stores your personal and payment data securely using zero-knowledge storage, so you never have to share it with anyone – not even Nuggets. You create a secure personal vault of data that only you can access. You decide if and when you want to share it, and do so on your own terms.

What makes Nuggets different to other identity platforms?

With Nuggets, you can forget about usernames, passwords, and entering payment details into dozens of different accounts. Once you’re set up on the app, you can use Nuggets to pay, log in, or verify your identity using just your biometrics (fingerprint or facial recognition). Blockchain technology means you keep control of your information. Nuggets doesn’t share or store your data with anyone, and no one can access it – not even Nuggets itself.

Is the Nuggets platform a mobile app only?

Nuggets is available on iOS and Android. You can also use it with desktop services – service providers send a verification request to your mobile app.

Is the Nuggets platform free to use?

Yes, Nuggets is free for consumers. 

Is Nuggets available worldwide?

The Nuggets platform is available globally for businesses to integrate with. The app is available to download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store across a wide range of countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and most of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Where is my data stored?

Nuggets stores your personal and payment data in zero-knowledge storage, via hashing on the blockchain and decentralised storage. This means no one else can access it – not even Nuggets itself. If you choose to share some data, Nuggets will share only the minimum required.

The App & Getting Started

Where can I download the app?

The Nuggets app is available for iOS and Android devices. You can download it from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

What ID is required?

You can set up Nuggets using any government-issued photo ID: passport, driving licence, or national ID card.

How should I photograph my ID?

Photograph your photo ID against a darker background, with no reflections. Standing your ID upright rather than laying it flat can help avoid glare from overhead lighting.

How should I take my selfie?

Make sure your whole head is within the frame, then follow the on-screen instructions.

What happens when I log in to merchant websites?

When you log in using Nuggets, the merchant receives none of your personal information, unlike other services which often pass your email or phone number. Your personal and payment data stays in your secure vault. If you choose to share data, it’s up to you.

What is my Recovery Phrase and where is it saved?

Nuggets works because you’re the only one who can access your data. Your account details and private key are encoded in the 12-word Recovery Phrase provided when you first set up your account. Write these words down and keep them safe, separate from your device. If you lose your device, you can still access your Nuggets account by downloading the app and choosing ‘Recovery Phrase’ from the menu. Never share your Recovery Phrase with anyone.

How are my biometrics used?

Nuggets uses biometrics to verify your identity from your government-issued ID and to access and verify all activity through the app. This includes fingerprint and facial recognition. No passwords or usernames are needed.

Does Nuggets work across mobile and desktop?

Nuggets is available for iOS and Android. You can also use it with participating desktop services. The partner site sends a request to your mobile app, and you verify with your biometrics. No passwords, no security questions.

How do I reset my PIN?

You can reset your PIN in the app. Go to the menu, choose Settings, and select ‘Change Access PIN’.

How many payment cards can I use?

You can use multiple payment cards with Nuggets. Each card must be registered in the same name as the photo ID used to verify your account.

Can Nuggets be used on multiple devices?

Yes. Set up Nuggets on one device first, then install it on your additional device(s) and choose ‘Recover account’. Use the 12-word Recovery Phrase from the original installation to complete the setup.
